Terms and conditions

Please Read carefully!

By booking a trip with Uptrack Guiding, you agree to the terms and conditions set out below. Please read them carefully before confirming your reservation.

  • A 25% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation.
  • The remaining balance is due by November 1st, 2026 or immediately if booking after November 1st, 2026.
  • If the balance is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation and release your spot. The deposit will not be refunded.
  • All prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude GST unless otherwise stated.
  • Payment can be made by e-transfer (using the recipient email [email protected]), credit card, or bank transfer. No processing fee applies to Interac e-transfers between Canadian banks; other payment methods will be subject to a processing fee

Cancellation By You

  • Until November 1, 2026: Your trip will be refunded, except for the non-refundable deposit and invoice processing fees. No processing fees apply to Interac e-transfers between Canadian banks.
  • After November 1, 2026: Cancellations made after the cut-off date are non-refundable. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect against non-refundable costs. See section below.

Cancellation By The Operator

  • We have no control over the weather or avalanche conditions, and safety comes first. If a day or trip needs to be postponed or altered due to weather, avalanche hazard, or route conditions, we will do our best to reschedule within your stay or adjust the itinerary to make the most of the conditions on hand.
  • If we need to cancel for other reasons — most often medical — we will try to find you a qualified replacement guide or reschedule your outing within your stay in Revelstoke or Chamonix. If we’re unable to offer a reasonable alternative, your trip will be refunded in full.
  • Uptrack Guiding is not responsible for any additional costs or expenses you may incur as a result of a cancelled or altered trip, including travel, accommodation, or equipment costs. This is another good reason to carry travel insurance.

Booking Transfers

  • Bookings cannot be transferred to another person. However, you’re welcome to find and recommend a suitable replacement participant or participants, aged 19 or older, to book the trip directly with us.
  • To maintain group dynamics, any proposed replacement must have skills and a profile matching the group energy and suited to the trip.
  • We reserve the right to decline a proposed replacement; if so, you’re welcome to propose another.
  • The trip cost for the replacement participant will be set at the rate in effect at the time of their booking. Once their booking is complete (payment received, waiver read, and terms accepted), we will refund the original participant in full for all amounts paid minus invoice processing fees.
  • We are not responsible for finding replacement participants
  • Reservations that include a backcountry hut require full payment at the time of booking.
  • Hut fees are non-refundable under all circumstances, regardless of the time of season or reason for cancellation, as these costs are paid directly to the hut operator on your behalf and are non-recoverable.
  • All participants must read and sign Uptrack Guiding’s Release of Liability Waiver before participating in any trip. Minors require a parent or legal guardian’s signature.
  • Ski touring, backcountry travel, and mountain guiding involve inherent risks, including but not limited to avalanches, variable snow and terrain conditions, weather, and remoteness from emergency services. By booking, you acknowledge and accept these risks.
  • If you are booking on behalf of others, it is your responsibility to inform them of the waiver requirement and ensure they review it before the trip.
  • Uptrack Guiding reserves the right to update the waiver from season to season; the current version will be provided before your final payment.

We strongly recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance prior to the start of your trip. Acera Travel Insurance provides solutions tailored to the adventure travel industry. Uptrack Guiding is not affiliated to any insurance company.

  • Trip pricing is based on group size at the time of booking. If your group size increases, pricing will be adjusted accordingly, and any additional balance owing must be paid before the trip starts.
  • Private trips are priced per group, not per person. There are no partial refunds or credits for individual no-shows within a confirmed private group.
  • The maximum guest-to-guide ratio is 6:1. For groups larger than 6, Uptrack Guiding will enlist the help of a tail guide.
  • Participation is at the discretion of the guide. We recommend you consult your physician before booking if you have any health concerns relevant to backcountry ski touring.
  • We will do our best to tailor your trip to your abilities. Ultimately, you are responsible for ensuring you have the fitness, skiing/boarding ability, and prior experience appropriate to the trip you’ve booked. If, in the guide’s judgment, a participant’s ability or preparedness poses a safety risk to themselves or the group, the guide may modify, shorten, or decline to proceed with the trip, without refund.
  • Let us know if you are interested in completing a particular route. While we will do our best to accommodate mountain objectives set by our guests, final route and terrain decisions are always made by the guide, based on conditions, group ability, and safety.
  • Standard touring equipment and avalanche safety gear (transceiver, shovel, and probe) are the participant’s responsibility unless rental gear has been specifically arranged in advance.
  • An equipment list will be provided prior to your trip.

Ski touring and splitboarding are wilderness activities that involve risks and hazards. Each participant must be capable of assisting themselves and others during an emergency situation. Uptrack Guiding requires participants to be 15 years of age or older. Each participant under the age of 19 must have a parent or legal guardian co-sign their waiver. The parent or guardian who has signed the waiver must ski with their associated minor at all times.

Where a trip includes services from a third party (e.g., helicopter access, mountain huts, accommodation), those services are also subject to that provider’s own terms and conditions, in addition to Uptrack Guiding’s terms.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Uptrack Guiding will not be liable for any incidental, consequential, or indirect costs or damages arising from a cancelled, altered, or shortened trip, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, or equipment expenses.
